To combine with an existing antique breakfast table, Searle & Taylor was commissioned to design L-shaped storage seating for a restored breakfast room with original flint walls that leads from the kitchen and out to a patio area in a Georgian house in Winchester.
The Shaker-style seating design by Darren Taylor features angled backs for comfort and a chamfered corner area, which houses a Kaelo iceless ice bucket to keep opened wine at the perfect ambient temperature for serving. The beauty of the design is the multifunctionality of the seating, as beneath the seat are four open boxed areas that house baskets for magazines and serveware. The further enclosed boxes conceal electrical fuse boards and the IT servers for the rest of the house, leaving the overall space neat and free of wires. The wooden seating is handpainted in Cotton 2 by Paint and Paper Library.
